The Basics of Deaf Culture and ASL – Presented by Dawn Watts
Dawn Watts is a member of the Deaf community and has spent a lifetime working on leadership for deaf youth, working with deaf/blind people, and as an advocate for deaf women.
In this workshop, you will learn how to use facial expression or gesture communication and the following objectives will be met:
- To understand better that a Deaf child or person’s first language is “vision”
- How does ASL help deaf person? Or does it?
- Differences between the Deaf World vs Hearing World
- Encounter communication
